A snowman named 'Bart' that we built last week in front of our back porch...Sadly, Bart passed away (blew away...melted to his death) this week with global warming and all. :)

These are some pictures of the church were I (Brian) am doing my fieldwork...the name of the church is Immanuel Lutheran Church, Decatar, Indiana. It was formed in 1891. As you can see it is out in the country.

These are pictures of the Seminary (the chapel and the lake in front of the chapel). By the way, you can view a webcam view of the Seminary chapel that is updated every 15 minutes at:

No Beach Bum...

We finally made it up to Lake Michigan this weekend. The name is deceiving....that looked like no lake to me....more like an ocean. It really had the feel of being on the coast minus all the salt in the air...it was nice. I found it ironic that Andrew's first visit to the "beach" was on a "lake". We had a blast. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to get in the water...the temperature didn't get warmer that 69 degrees....crazy for August huh? (Thus the need for the long sleeves and bottoms.)
As you can tell Andrew wasn't that impressed with the crashing water. He was fine when in his backpack (securely with dad), but when it was just him it "hit the fan". He cracks me up...I can't help but laugh atleast a little when he cries...so cute!!! Don't worry to all you "Moms" out there....its hard to tell but Andrew is a good distance from the water...there's no chance that he could have gotten lost at sea!!!
On the way home wen drove threw some "Amish" towns....I have a lot of respect of the Amish....there is something so intriguing about those who refuse to lose their identity to today's society.
Hope is all well with everyone!!!

Happy in Indiana

I know....I know it's been like forever since I posted....sorry. In my defense I have been very busy with our recent move to Indiana. I could go on and on about the move.....but I'd rather not. I'd much rather discuss happier subjects like...hhhmmm....ANDREW!!! As cute as this picture is, it was inspired by not so cute incidents. This weekend, Brian's younger brother was involved in a motorcycle wreck. He is well....but pretty banged up I hear. He is still in the hospital with a punctured lung and chest tube...bless his heart. THE BLACK CLOUD STRIKES AGAIN!!!! (Inside joke) We took this picture to send to "Uncle Alex" in hopes to cheer him up...hopefully it'll give a smile or two. I love the way Andrew smiles.....he smiles with his whole face!!!
Andrew has done well with the move...all things considering. Nap and bedtimes are a little more difficult these days. It's hard to till if its the change in environment, time change, teething....or even worse: separation anxiety!! Realistically it could be all the above!! He's been a real trooper. I have noticed a slight change in him as of late. He does appear to be more 'clingy' and more 'cuddly'. I have enjoyed having my snuggle buddy back. Andrew is still not crawling yet...though he has taken to rolling across the entire room when his heart so desires...makes me laugh. Blessings to all!!

Farewell good friend....

This post is in memory of our dog, Liza, who sadly passed away this morning. (Liza is on top.) The whole ordeal was pretty dramatic and somewhat unexpected. It appears poor Liza suffered from heart failure, chest x-ray showed a 'bulge' in her heart. Liza died before the vet could finish a cardiac work-up. Fortunately both hubby and I were able to say our goodbyes....neither of us really expected good news considering her condition when we woke up. Liza was a real sweety, she never met a stranger. We enjoyed our years with her and will never forget her.

Farwell Liza.....we will miss you
